After the assassination of Aurelian the Senate of Rome voted for Tacitus to become Emperor. It would be the last time in Roman history the Senate would elect an emperor. Obverse radiate Tacitus, draped and cuirassed IMP C M CL TACITVS AVG. Reverse Victory and the emperor facing each other, Victory extends a wreath towards the emperor's head and holds a palm in her other hand; while the emperor, in military dress, extends his right hand at waist height and holds an upright scepter in his left hand in exergue.
