Elagabalus (218 - 222) AE Bronze

Elagabalus, 203 – March 11, 222, (also known as Marcus Aurelius Antoninus) became Roman Emperor after the death of Macrinus in 218. Elagabalus was barely fourteen years old at that time and showed disregard for Roman religious and social traditions. At the age of 18 Elagabalus was assassinated by members of the Praetorian Guard. He was replaced by his cousin Alexander Severus on March 11, 222. Obverse laureate Elagabalus AVT K M AVΡH ANTΩNEINOC.
