Emperor Justin I was a career military officer who depended on his brilliant nephew Justinian I for the administration of the Empire. In order to secure a smooth succession he elevated Justinian I to be co-emperor a few months before his demise. Justin and Justinian are both nimbate and their hands clasped on their breasts.
